Little Spotted Kiwi

Little Spotted Kiwi                   Successfully Breeding inside the Cape

We currently have a small population of Little Spotted Kiwi that are thriving and breeding successfully. They favour the Ocean Beach coast habitat, steep faces, and in the pine plantations. They seem to have a preference for the pines over the native areas and are often found in the cropping land on the flat.

The current population is growing steadily and we expect to be able to translocate Little Spotted Kiwi to other sanctuaries and the wild in the near future.

Translocated From: Long Island

Current Status: Breeding
